Part-Time Bookkeeper

Responsibilities:

  • Record financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct general ledger
  • Bring books to the trial balance stage
  • Process payments and payment plans for tuition and fees
  • Work with Artistic Director to prepare budgets
  • Prepare monthly financial reports
  • Make weekly deposits
  • Process payroll and bill payments
  • Prepare grant application reports and process grant monies
  • Work with auditors
  • Collect accounts receivable
  • Process tax forms

 Job Description:

New Haven Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization looking for a skilled Bookkeeper to maintain our financial records, including tuition payments, processing payroll, and preparing for an annual audit.

Bookkeeper job duties include working closely with Artistic Director, Board Treasurer and auditors to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable, and manage invoices and tax payments. Our ideal candidate holds a Finance degree (preferably followed by accounting CPE courses) and is familiar with the accounting software Quickbooks. Spanish fluency a plus.

Requirements:

  • Proven bookkeeping experience, preferably with non-profit organizations
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks and in MS Office
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration

Children’s Division Class Assistant

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Children’s Division Director and other instructors as needed with dance programs for young children
  • Work with Artistic Director
  • Assist with rehearsals and performances

Requirements:

New Haven Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization looking for a skilled assistant with at least one year of experience working with and/or caring for young children. Must have prior classical ballet training and ability to assist with all aspects of training and caring for young children. Must keep availability open and commit to entire session (Fall, Winter/Spring). Must have a desire to work and care for children aged 3 to 6 years, as well as effectively communicate with parents. Must have own transportation.

Part-Time Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with opening and closing of dance studios
  • Provide information and act as liaison with families
  • Assist with rehearsals and performances

Requirements:

New Haven Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization looking for an administrator with at least one year of experience working with and/or caring for young children. Must keep availability open and commit to entire session (Fall, Winter/Spring). Must have a desire to work and care for young children, as well as effectively communicate with parents. Must have own transportation.

Substitute Ballet and Contemporary Teachers

Responsibilities:

  • Teach classical ballet or contemporary dance to students as needed

Requirements:

New Haven Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization looking for highly skilled substitute teachers in classical ballet and contemporary or lyrical dance. Must have at least one year of teaching experience, preferably of beginning through intermediate level students aged 6 to 14 years. Must have prior ballet training in a nationally recognized pre-professional program, familiarity with Balanchine technique preferred for ballet instructors, and/or comparable professional performance experience. Must have own transportation and willingness to teach in all NHB studios located in New Haven and Branford. Please submit resume or CV and two professional references.
