PROGRAMS & TUITION – Student Division

STUDENT DIVISION (AGES 8-19)

New Haven Ballet offers boys and girls the highest caliber of classical ballet training in the region including, pointe and repertory. Training is augmented by a rich diversity of workshops and classes that may range from classical, Neo-classical, character, contemporary, lyrical, choreography, partnering, conditioning and stretch, to nutrition for dancers, injury prevention, and Pilates. New students are required to take a placement class to register.

LEVEL 1, 2, 3:

Students begin formalized ballet training learning all of the primary vocabulary and steps in these levels.

Level 1 (Age 8+): The beginning of formalized ballet training.
Level 2 (Age 9+): Greater emphasis on flexibility, body alignment and terminology.
Level 3 (Age 10+): Completion of elementary foundational technique while introducing elements of epaulment.

LEVEL 4, 5:

Students continue to expand their ballet vocabulary and technique while also learning to fully integrate head, arm and leg movements. Introductory and beginning pointe work for ladies.

Level 4 (Age 11+): Emphasis on preparing the student for pointe work. Qualified students may begin introductory pointe work.
Level 5 (Age 12+): Greater emphasis on center work and expanded ballet vocabulary. Beginning level pointe work for ladies.

LEVEL 6, 7, 8:

Intermediate and Advanced students incorporate more advanced technique with the emphasis on developing individual artistry, technical detail and movement.

Level 6 (Age 12+): Introduction of alternative arms and poses and more complex enchainment. Intermediate level pointe work for ladies.
Level 7 (Age 13+): Focus on stamina and performance quality with added complexities pertaining to choreography and more advanced pointe work.
Level 8 (Age 14+): Focus on stamina and performance quality with added complexities pertaining to choreography and advanced pointe work.
