NEW HAVEN BALLET PRESENTS

CHILDREN’S NUTCRACKER MATINEE

New Haven Ballet is proud to offer a special performance of The Nutcracker for Preschool through High School students. The show will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:15 a.m. at the historic Shubert Theatre at 247 College Street in Downtown New Haven. Admission to this fantastic performance is just $12.00 for Preschool through High School students, their teachers, and chaperones.

This abbreviated version of the holiday classic allows students to share in the dream of Clara as her adventures take her through an epic battle between the Mouse King and Toy Soldiers, through a blizzard in the Land of Snow, and eventually to a performance by the Sugar Plum Fairy and all their friends in the Kingdom of the Sweets. Between acts, New Haven Ballet Artistic Director Lisa Kim Sanborn will provide students with a “behind-the-scenes” look at the inner workings of the theater and the dancer’s performance preparations. Students will be treated to an exciting and educational introduction to the art of ballet, live theater, and the enchanting music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Space is limited. Interested schools should contact New Haven Ballet at 203-782-9038.

This performance is made possible through support by the City of New Haven.

New Haven Ballet Community Concerts allow audiences to experience live ballet performances at convenient local venues at no cost. They are a vital part of the Ballet and allow residents to engage in the arts, fostering community and connection. This performance is our first holiday performance in the Town of Bethany and we hope local residents will come out to enjoy a wonderful day with us.”

Located at 40 Peck Road in Bethany, Connecticut, the Town Hall boasts a beautiful new space in a familiar and well-loved location. Sanborn states, “The performance will transform the space to provide a complete theatrical experience with professional lighting, sound, and beautiful costumes.”

New Haven Ballet students will bring scenes from Tchaikovsky’s familiar musical score, The Nutcracker, to life. Seating is limited, so audience members are encouraged to arrive early to secure parking and a seat.

This performance is made possible through the support of Willow Tree Montessori School.
