The New Haven Ballet Company aims to provide intermediate and advanced level students in Levels 5-8 with enhanced training through exposure to celebrated guest choreographers, works, and teachers and to offer additional performing opportunities. In recent years, the New Haven Ballet Company has worked with professional teachers, choreographers, and dancers from companies such as the School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Miami City Ballet, as well as performed highly acclaimed work, including Giselle, Le Corsaire, Paquita, Don Quixote, Coppélia, and Swan Lake. The Company’s eclectic repertoire includes classical, neo-classical, modern, contemporary, and other dance forms. Students audition in January and rehearse on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The Company performs at the school’s spring performance and many prestigious festivals, including the Branford Festival, Arts on the Edge, Dancin’ in the Streets, the Fair Haven Festival, and the International Festival of Arts and Ideas.

*A minimum ballet class attendance and an audition is required to participate.

On October 31, 2020, NHB’s Board of Directors adopted the following Diversity and Inclusion Statement:

New Haven Ballet celebrates those who aspire to excellence in classical ballet. A culture of creativity is the core of our work and diversity promotes innovation. The arts can provide powerful life-changing experiences that prepare students and impact audiences to lead more successful, meaningful and culturally rich lives. The arts can also prove to be an important platform for social change. At New Haven Ballet we are passionate about creating an inclusive dance environment and performances that promote and value diversity and inclusion. We will continue to strive to increase diversity in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective, which will improve and strengthen our work.
