Summer at NHB

July 6-31, 2020

New Haven Ballet will be offering a reduced schedule of online Zoom classes during July 2020. This will allow students an opportunity to work with instructors while permitting them free time away from electronics.

We are also reopening the school in a limited fashion for students in Levels 4-8 during July 2020. Levels 4-8 may enjoy morning only Zoom offerings with no obligation or expectation they attend studio classes in the afternoons/evenings. For those who are ready to resume studio work, New Haven Ballet is accepting a select number of students who are committed to their summer training by attending Zoom classes in the mornings followed by small studio classes one or two afternoons/evenings each week. Students enrolled in morning Zoom classes will be prioritized for access to studio classes as afternoon/evening offerings are extremely limited at this time.

As we successfully transition to studio offerings, if interest is strong we may add studio classes to the schedule.

Our top priority remains ensuring the health and safety of our students, faculty and administrators. Health and safety protocols have been established for studio classes, with students who wish to participate in studio classes being required to complete a medical questionnaire and waiver in addition to strict adherence to new protocols.

2020 Summer Offerings:

Widely regarded as the standard for classical ballet training throughout the Greater New Haven Region, New Haven Ballet offers students an opportunity to improve their technical skills and artistry through a premiere ballet intensive experience during July. Students who participate for the full 4-week program can achieve marked improvement in strength, flexibility and technical ability.

Whether you attend NHB year round or simply wish to visit for the summer, NHB welcomes and is thrilled to have you!

Student Division (Ages 8 to 19 years):

For students ages 8 to 19 years, ballet intensive workshops offer a wide range of classes designed to maximize technical and artistic skills, while presenting an opportunity to experience different modalities of movement. Classes range from ballet technique and pointe, to Gyrotonics, Pilates, stretch & conditioning, lyrical, salsa and other forms of dance, and repertory.

Students may register for Zoom online classes, which are offered at a reduced rate compared with studio classes. The Zoom schedule offers classes in the mornings Monday through Thursday to give students a chance to enjoy time away from electronic screens.

In addition, students in Levels 4-8 may register for Zoom+Studio classes. The studio classes are limited in size to allow for adequate distance to be maintained during classes. Students will also be required to wear face masks, assist with cleaning surfaces they touch and other protocols.

Strict adherence to studio protocols, medical questionnaire and waiver are required to register for studio classes. It is also understood that information and guidelines are ever changing. Studio participants acknowledge and accept any revisions to the protocols, questionnaire or waiver. Once studio classes are full a wait list will form.
