New Haven Ballet Community Concerts offer audiences the opportunity to experience live ballet performances at various local venues across the Greater New Haven Region. They are a vital part of New Haven Ballet, allowing residents to engage with the arts and fostering community connections. Furthermore, they provide an excellent way to introduce classical ballet and music to audiences of all ages while providing New Haven Ballet students with additional performing opportunities.

Nutcracker Children’s Matinee
Friday, December 12, 2025
10:00–11:15 a.m.
New Haven Ballet is thrilled to present excerpts from The Nutcracker for our upcoming Children’s Matinee at the Shubert Theatre in New Haven. This beloved program, returning after a brief hiatus, brings the magic of live dance to students across Greater New Haven.
Featuring students from the New Haven Ballet School and our DanceAIR program, the performance includes a special behind-the-scenes segment between Acts I and II where students can ask questions and learn about life on stage.
Thanks to generous support from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, we keep ticket prices affordable and make it possible for children from schools in New Haven, Branford, Hamden, North Haven, West Haven, and homeschooling programs to experience live dance. In 2024, over 1,250 students, teachers, and chaperones attended, many seeing classmates perform and witnessing DanceAIR teachers, like Mr. Tim as Drosselmeyer, take the stage.
New Haven Ballet is committed to making dance accessible to all children and families. Through programs like DanceAIR and our community performances, students and families connect with the art of ballet while building lasting friendships.
