ABOUT THE NEW HAVEN BALLET COMPANY

The New Haven Ballet Company is designed to provide students in Levels 5 through 8 with advanced training, mentorship, and meaningful performance opportunities beyond regular classwork. Company participation enhances students’ technical and artistic development through exposure to celebrated guest choreographers, master teachers, and a diverse range of repertory.

In recent years, the Company has collaborated with distinguished professionals from institutions such as the School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet, Boston Ballet, and Miami City Ballet. Dancers have performed acclaimed classical and contemporary works, including Giselle, Le Corsaire, Paquita, Don Quixote, Coppélia, La Bayadère, Swan Lake, and original contemporary pieces commissioned specifically for the Company.

The Company’s repertoire spans classical, neo-classical, modern, contemporary, and other dance forms, providing dancers with a well-rounded and versatile performance experience.

Students are selected by audition each January and must meet minimum class attendance requirements to participate. Weekly rehearsals are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Performances include New Haven Ballet’s annual Spring Performance at the Shubert Theatre as well as appearances at prestigious community festivals and cultural events such as the Branford Festival, Arts on the Edge, Dancin’ in the Streets, the Fair Haven Festival, and the International Festival of Arts and Ideas.

Participation in the Company is both an honor and a commitment, and students are expected to demonstrate dedication, professionalism, and a passion for performance.
