NHB is thrilled to welcome back Emily Coates as a guest master teacher! Ms. Coates will be teaching the level 6/7/8 ballet class Thursday, February 27, 2014 5:45-7:15 p.m. in Danspace at 70 Audubon Street, New Haven. Ms. Coates has performed with New York City Ballet (1992 – 1998), Mikhail Baryshnikov (1998 – 2002), Twyla Tharp (2001 – 2003), and Yvonne Rainer (2006 – present). She is a lecturer in Theater Studies and director of the dance studies curriculum at Yale.
All level 6/7/8 students are invited to audition for the NHB Company. Auditions will be held January 18th in Danspace, 70 Audubon Street, New Haven. Please contact administrator@newhavenballet.org or call 203-782-9038 for more information.
NHB Level 8 student, Alaina Hartnett, will be teaching a hip hop class in Danspace on Saturday, January 11th, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. It will be open to all 6/7/8 students who wish to participate. Dance sneakers or jazz shoes are encouraged but not required. There is no charge for the class.
Nutcracker choreographer and Interim Artistic Director Lisa Sanborn will be teaching two classes on Saturday, January 4, 2014 in Danspace at 70 Audubon Street, New Haven.
Open Division from 10:00a to 11:30a, and
Levels 6, 7, and 8 from 11:30a to 1:00p.
Joanne Whitehill, Artistic Director of Burklyn Ballet Theater, will be a guest master teacher for the Level 6/7/8 ballet technique class this Saturday, November 23, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. Ms. Whitehill has performed with several ballet companies, including, American Ballet Theater, Oregon Ballet Theater, and others.
We are pleased to announce that we will have special guest teacher, Joan Kunsch, Associate Director of the Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, on Friday, October 11th, 2013. Ms. Kunsch will be teaching Levels 6-8 and the Boys’ Technique Class.
Ms. Kunsch, as well as being an accomplished ballet instructor, is also an award winning choreographer and poet.
The New Haven Ballet Board is pleased and excited to announce that Lisa Sanborn has accepted the position of the Interim Artistic Director at New Haven Ballet, effective August 5, 2013.
In observance of Memorial Day, New Haven Ballet will be closed Saturday, May 25th through Monday, May 27th. All classes and rehearsals at all locations are canceled.
Tomorrow, Saturday, March 16th, is the first day of Shared Ability 2013!
We are looking forward to eight fun filled sessions of dance improvisation and shared choreography.
