Children’s ballet classes this winter at the Joseph Trapasso Community House

New Haven Ballet is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Town of Branford Parks and Recreation Department to bring children’s ballet classes to the Joseph Trapasso Community House this winter and spring.

The program offers classes for children ages 4–6 and students in grades 1–2. Through music, movement, and imaginative play, young dancers are introduced to the fundamentals of classical ballet in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Classes are designed to build coordination, confidence, and musicality while fostering creativity and a love of movement. No prior dance experience is required.

Students enrolled in the program will also have the opportunity to participate in New Haven Ballet’s spring performance at the historic Shubert Theatre in downtown New Haven, offering a unique and inspiring performance experience for young dancers.

Classes begin January 20, with sessions continuing through the spring. Registration is available through the Branford Parks and Recreation Department. Click Here for information.

Celebrate the art of dance al fresco when New Haven Ballet returns to the Branford Green for a free outdoor Summer Dance Concert in downtown Branford. The concert will be presented Friday, June 9, at 6:00 p.m.

New Haven Ballet will perform excerpts from Artistic Director Lisa Kim Sanborn’s Coppélia, which premiered at the Shubert Theatre New Haven on May 27. Also planned for the night’s performance are David Parson’s Étude and the ballets Vivaldi Concerto and Cavaliere Allegro. A school student demonstration inviting young audience members is also planned. Guest Artist Michael Requena will join the cast, and Children’s Division Director Timothy Fountain will reprise his role as Dr. Coppélius.

Located at 1011 Main Street in downtown Branford, the performance is presented on the Town Green in Branford’s open-air shopping and dining district. On-street parking is available. Admission is free for lawn seating. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy an evening of ballet under the stars.

This performance is sponsored by the Branford Community Foundation and the Branford Arts and Cultural Alliance.

New Haven Ballet wishes to thank Raeanne Reynolds, Principal of the Francis Walsh Intermediate School, and Frank Carrano of the Branford Arts and Cultural Alliance for partnering with New Haven Ballet this past weekend. The dancers were beautiful and the performance was a resounding success. We are grateful to everyone who supported the ballet by attending the performance. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Our next free performance is December 4 at 4:00 p.m. at the Dixwell Community House “Q House” located at 197 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.
