New Haven Ballet is offering a modified class schedule May 31-July 2 so that students may keep dancing, and, for older students, prepare for Summer Intensive Programs. Students should register for their 2021-2022 class level and may participate in as many classes as are offered in their class level. Students are still required to take the minimum number of classes for their class level and may register for up to four weeks of classes during the June Term. New or returning students in levels 2-8 should email: administrator@newhavenballet.org to schedule a placement class.

It’s April, and April showers bring not only May flowers but May dances and May fundraisers. The Great Give—the annual fundraiser sponsored by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven that brings needed funds and new friends to so many worthy community nonprofits—will launch on Wednesday, May 4, at 8:00 a.m., and run to Thursday, May 5, at 8:00 p.m. New Haven Ballet is thrilled to be among the participants, for the money so generously donated by family and friends keeps our dancers dancing, through good times and hard ones (and these past two years have been hard), and enables us to bring the joy of dance to the community at large through our outreach programs Shared Ability, for differently abled students, and DanceAir, for elementary school students in the Greater New Haven area. This May we are particularly excited because we shall once more put on our spring show at the Shubert Theater, where dancers age 5 and up will perform for a live audience. Our program will feature the classical ballet Don Quixote and a new piece created for our students by former New York City Ballet dancer Tom Gold.

The Great Give is one of the reasons that NHB can put on these performances and outreach programs; they are why we can offer the finest classical ballet training and perform with world-class artists. And the Great Give is you, our generous New Haven Ballet friends and family, whose donations do so much to keep our school going and our students dancing. This year, on May 4–5, we ask that you consider a donation—of any amount—to NHB. And we hope to see you at the Shubert in a few weeks in a joyous May celebration.

Great Give: 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5.

New Haven Ballet is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

We invite you to place a business advertisement or personal message in support of the ballet school and students who will be performing in the upcoming show. On May 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. New Haven Ballet school students will return to the Shubert Theatre New Haven to perform two ballets: Don Quixote and Symphonic Nonsense. Proceeds will support school programming, financial aid scholarships, and outreach.

To provide the greater New Haven Community with exceptional classical ballet training, performances, and outreach programs, that nurture appreciation of ballet and foster the joy of dance.

On October 31, 2020, NHB’s Board of Directors adopted the following Diversity and Inclusion Statement:

New Haven Ballet celebrates those who aspire to excellence in classical ballet. A culture of creativity is the core of our work and diversity promotes innovation. The arts can provide powerful life-changing experiences that prepare students and impact audiences to lead more successful, meaningful and culturally rich lives. The arts can also prove to be an important platform for social change. At New Haven Ballet we are passionate about creating an inclusive dance environment and performances that promote and value diversity and inclusion. We will continue to strive to increase diversity in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity, and perspective, which will improve and strengthen our work.
