New Haven Ballet School presents two ballets: the classical, Don Quixote, with music by Ludwig Minkus and Lisa Kim Sanborn’s choreography inspired by Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky; and, the neoclassical, Symphonic Nonsense, with music by Leroy Anderson and choreography by Tom Gold. The performance will be held at the Shubert Theatre New Haven on Saturday, May 28, at 1:00 p.m. Tickets cost $37-$57.

We invite you to experience the movement of ruffled skirts and toreador capes flying. The beautiful dream is restaged, along with an exciting wedding, where the infamous pas de deux is performed in our rendition of Don Quixote.

New Haven Ballet Company also presents former New York City Ballet Soloist, Tom Gold’s whimsical Symphonic Nonsense, featuring music by Woodbury, Connecticut native, Leroy Anderson. New Haven Ballet Premiered Symphonic Nonsense May 8, 2014 at the Shubert Theatre New Haven.

New Haven Ballet presents Broadway Dance classes for Levels 5-8 taught by Joseph Simeone on Saturday, March 5. 
Joseph Simeone grew up in Madison, Connecticut and graduated from The Juilliard School in 2004 with a concentration in dance and music composition. He’s danced professionally for ABT, Merce Cunningham Co., Mark Morris, and Twyla Tharp as well as with the Broadway productions of A Chorus Line, The Phantom of the Opera, and West Side Story, as Riff: For which he won two Best Actor Awards and was complimented by the story’s author, Arthur Laurents, in his last memoir, The Rest of the Story (2012). Most recently, Joseph performed the leading role of “Calogero” in A Bronx Tale, on Broadway. 
 
Joseph has also written the book, music, and lyrics for an original musical, titled, Cafe Nadine, (a true story about life in East Berlin after the fall of the Berlin Wall); Which is being mentored by Stephen Schwartz, directed by Scott Schwartz, with musical supervision by Patrick Vaccariello, and is slated for a full Broadway production in 2024.

New Haven Ballet is thrilled to announce that Ms. Biruite Barodicaite will give a Master Class on Saturday, February 12, for Level 6-8 students from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Danspace. All Level 6/7/8 students are invited to take the class even if you do not ordinarily take the Saturday class.

Birute Barodicaite trained in Chicago with Richard Ellis, Christine DuBoulay, Larry Long, and Ben Stevenson. She danced with the Chicago Ballet, touring throughout France, Austria and Germany. Ms. Barodicaite staged Ruth Page’s The Nutcracker for Chicago Ballet, Con Spirito by Jim Clouser for Chicago Ballet, and Anton Dolin’s Pas de Quatre and Napoli for Ruth Page School of Dance.

Ms. Barodicaite serves as the rehearsal director and ballet mistress for the Ruth Page Civic Ballet Training Company. She is a regular guest teacher for the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater and Grand Rapids Ballet. Ms. Barodicaite also teaches company class for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Luna Negra Dance Theater. Ms. Barodicaite has been invited as a guest teacher at Escuela Nacional de Ballet de Cuba, in Havana. In addition to teaching for the Ruth Page School of Dance for many years, she taught in Lithuania for Lithuanian National Ballet. In Chicago, she was on teaching faculty at Lou Conte Dance Studio, and is currently on faculty with Chicago Movement Collective.
